Surroundings

​The village of Espot is located in a small valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees, at 1,320 m of altitude. In a highly beautiful natural environment you will enjoy the “Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici” National Park and the Espot-Esquí skiing resort facility. In its surroundings a great variety of adventure sports can be practiced, like rafting, gorging, quads, mountain-bike and horse riding, and a rich medieval cultural patrimony can be visited. Espot is also close to Baqueira-Beret-Bonaigua.

ESPOT


At 1,320 m of altitude, Espot offers all the enchantment of a high-mountain village. Located at the Escrita river valley, and divided into two small suburbs, Espot Solau (sunny) and Espot Obago (shady), the town constitutes the main entrance to the “Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici” National Park, one of the most beautiful and attractive places in the Pyrenees.

NATIONAL PARK OF AIGÜESTORTES I ESTANY DE SANT MAURICI



Created on 1955, is one of the twelve national parks existing in Spain and the only one in Catalonia. It is a magnificent example of the high-mountain landscape, with an impressive relief and a wealth of flora and fauna. With almost 200 lakes and innumerable streams, the water plays the lead here. Well signalled and better kept, is especially equipped with plenty of high-mountain refuges to make itineraries more accessible.

THE ROMANESQUE


The Romanesque art of the region (Pallars Sobirà) has recently been restored and diffused. There are many civil constructions and small churches around that, integrated in the high-mountains landscape, allow recalling the medieval past of these valleys.

ESPOT ESQUÍ


The ski resort Espot-Esquí is located on the periphery of the “Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici” National Park, two km away from the Espot village. Espot-Esquí is equipped with the most advanced facilities, and skiers can find their own space for practising a wide range of snow activities, like alpine skiing, mountain skiing, snowboard, and free-riding. The slopes are surrounded by forests and offer excellent views over the Pyrenees, with the magnificent Pica d’Estats (3143m).​

ADVENTURE SPORTS


Espot is located at the Pallars Sobirà region, furrowed by the Noguera Pallaresa River, known as one the best brave water rivers of the European continent. This has turned it as one of the favourite scenes for the practice of rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed, etc... Llavorsí, to 20km from Espot, is the main place offering these sport activities.
